Reflection
Charles:
“So, was meaning to ask you. All your journaling Silas. What benefit do you get from it and how does it change your perspective in the way you feel?”
Silas:
“Good question. Sometimes I journal with my journal like it is my best friend. I can tell it everything, whenever I want, no matter if I haven't talked to it in weeks, and it will just listen, no questions ask, no judgment, and no change in the storyline. I can write about my day, my emotions, and my challenges. Other times I write down ideas or concepts that are playing through my mind. Getting them on paper is the first step to seeing if these thoughts have substance. Sometimes I write down questions I ask myself and my intuition tells me the answers. It is a tool to become present and more content because like meditation it slows thinking and life down. It acts as a mirror to whatever is going on inside. Most important is to know that there is no right or wrong way of reflecting. There is so much value in just doing it. Establishing a habit of reflection takes time, but eventually, I started feeling like I truly own my life and the choices that I make.
Hope this is helpful.”
