RARE Homecoming
Standing at the top of a yoga mat in my friend’s yoga studio called RARE. All I can think of is: I’m home.
Home. Something I think of again and again as I spent more time away from the place of my upbringing. Home is a word that carries different meanings for each of us. It's a concept that transcends the physical and touches the depths of our being. Home is where we find connection and a sense of belonging. It's a place where our voice is heard, our presence is valued, and our dreams take root.
For me, the journey of coming home sometimes starts at the top of my yoga mat. By taking a couple of first intentional breaths and beginning to move, I'm reminded of the profound connection between body, mind, and spirit. It's a coming home to myself, a reunion with all parts of me. In the sanctuary of my practice, I find solitude and refuge. It's a space where I can shed the layers of the outside world and delve into the depths of my being. Through the flow of movement and the rhythm of breath, I reconnect with the core of who I am. I rediscover my strength, befriend my weakness and fears, and find my authenticity once again.
But coming home goes beyond the individual journey. It extends to the embrace of a tribe, or as we call it today: a community of like-minded people. In the presence of others who share our passions and values, we find a collective home. A space where we can be fully ourselves, without judgment or rejection. We support one another, fostering growth, connection, and inspiration.
A home is a place where our words have weight. It's a space where we can express ourselves authentically and be heard, understood, and respected. It's a room that reflects our values, where kindness, compassion, and inclusivity are the pillars that hold the ceiling above our heads.
As we journey through life, it's essential to seek out and cultivate these homes, both within ourselves and within our communities. It's about creating spaces where we matter, where we feel seen, acknowledged, and embraced.
So, as I stand here at the top of my yoga mat, I'm reminded that home is not just a destination but a state of being. It's a continuous journey of self-discovery and celebration of the interconnectedness of all the things surrounding me. Acknowledging this we seem to just walk each other “home”.
