Drive

Sometimes, you think you have it all figured out. You believe you've reached a point in life where unpredictability has been minimized, and stability has been maximized. Take a moment to imagine a perfect world, one without any problems or surprises, where everything goes according to plan. No pleasant or unpleasant surprises. Just the thought of such a world makes me feel physically sick. Somewhere along the way, I heard that we aren't built for security but for adventure. So, what does the journey look like?

As you navigate this game called life, you inevitably reach new levels of awareness and develop a broader perception of the world around you. People often say, "Change is the only thing that is certain." What if the world around you isn't the one changing? What if instead, it's your internal world and constructs that are shifting? What if life hasn't fundamentally changed, but rather, you're beginning to see it for what it truly is (or isn't)?

What if life isn't about change but about the continuous process of discovering and rediscovering what you already know or think you know? It is like driving down a country road at night. The road vanishes behind us, and our car's headlights only illuminate the next 100 meters ahead. As we continue driving, the road seems to reveal itself gradually, providing us with just enough visibility to keep moving forward. When driving our car at night, we don't get nervous because we trust that the road extends beyond the scope of our awareness. However, when navigating through life, we often struggle to have the same level of trust. We find it challenging to believe that the road will expose itself.

“Finding it challenging to believe…”

It is interesting to explore the concept of belief in relation to uncertainty. To believe is to trust in something we can't see, just like the part of the road that isn’t illuminated yet. If life were certain and our entire path mapped, we wouldn't need to believe. It's like believing in racism or gender inequality. If these things were undeniably true, belief wouldn't be necessary. As we change, uncertainty becomes an integral part of our existence. It challenges us to adapt, grow, and learn. While we may yearn for security, we can only make assumptions about the path ahead. It involves engaging with the elements within our control as we journey through the night. As the road reveals itself move the steering wheel along, shift up and down, drive fast (and slow), and maybe play some good music.
