You can’t fake courage

We all want certain things in life. We all want to become a certain version of ourselves—the version that feels true, empowered and aligned. But to get there, we sometimes need something more than just a plan or a vision. We need courage.

And the thing about courage is, you can’t fake it. You might think you can put on a brave face, but in the act of pretending, you’re already being courageous. Even if you feel like you’re faking it, the very decision to stand up for yourself, to make a choice, to take action—it’s all courage. It’s real, even when it feels like it’s not.

In the practice of yoga, the same holds true. To establish a daily practice, to step onto your mat day after day, takes more than discipline. It takes a breath of courage each time. And it’s not something you can fake. It’s in the simple, brave act of showing up—of sitting in meditation, of moving through breath and asana—that you let the practice transform you. Each time you step on the mat, you’re facing yourself with courage, whether you realize it or not.

So, take that breath of courage. Let it ground you. Let it guide you. And most importantly, let it change you. Because in showing up for the practice of being yourself every day, you might accidentally become the person you want to be. And that’s real courage. You can’t fake it.
