Waking up.

What does it mean to wake up?
We think of getting out of bed in the morning. But I don’t think that’s it!
There is a big difference between waking up and WAKING UP.
Today I will write about waking up in terms of waking up to this present moment. To the NOW.
How often are we rising up from our beds and then getting completely lost in our own heads, and routines and end up walking around all day not being present at all!? I think we have all been there.

But what is the present moment anyway? What are we waking up to? Eckhart Tolle, the author of ‘The power of now’, says the following:

“The present moment is all you ever have. There is never a time where your life is not this moment.”

This sentence alone is powerful and has the potential to change someone’s life. Yet, how do we know that we are fully present? How do we know we are living in the now?

We have all been gifted with two very unique abilities. Most of us are able to experience feelings and emotions and they can work as guides or checkpoints.
It is as simple as asking yourself: “What do I feel right now?”
If we feel any type of anxiety, stress, worry, tension, or any other kind of fear, it is an indication that we are focusing too much on the future and not enough on the present.
Feelings of regret, guilt, or sadness, on the other hand, are all forms of non-forgiveness, which means that we are thinking too much about the past and not enough about the present!
We often end up mentally living in either the future or the past and rarely in the present.

But being aware of this also leaves us with a choice.
We can’t necessarily choose our emotions, but our actions. We can choose how we are going to act. If we let negativity run our life or instead choose a positive approach.
Do we want to approach situations with ease and joy, or unease and tension?
Do we want to be the victim of our lives and live in conflict with ourselves, or be at peace with what we do?
Do you notice the pattern?
Life is the C between the B and the D. Life is the choice between Birth and Death!
Taking the best possible action now, will likely lead to more presence, with better emotions and feelings.

Just know that living in the now isn’t easy, otherwise everyone would do it. It is a lifetime of practice.
You strengthen the muscle, by giving it all you got and expect nothing in return.

Everything is honored, but nothing matters. Because now is all you will ever have… wake up!
