Trust your Teachers
Sometimes we have those days. The days when we feel unmotivated, uninspired, and stuck in a mental or physical rut. We're not sure what to do or when to do it. It's on days like these that a guide, in the form of a teacher, can be incredibly helpful. Let's take the example of a yoga teacher. Imagine you arrive at a yoga class feeling fatigued, whether it's mental or physical exhaustion doesn't matter. You're not sure if you'll even make it through the first 10 to 15 minutes of the practice. But despite it all, you still showed up, which is often the hardest part - just showing up. And after you've done the first sun salute or taken a few breaths, you start to think, "Okay, that wasn't too bad. Let's do some more."
The key to pulling yourself out of that rut is to fully surrender to the guidance of the teacher. Instead of checking the time or wondering what to do next, you simply listen and follow the teacher's instructions. You let go of control and trust in the competence of the teacher to guide you through the practice. All you have to do is listen and be present in the moment.
In the same way, many people see life as their teacher. Just like you only need to show up to a yoga class with consistency and trust in the teacher's guidance, you also need to show up to life. Life, as a teacher, will provide you with cues on what to do and when to do it. It may not always be easy, and there may be challenges along the way, but by showing up and listening to life's lessons, you can gain valuable insights and wisdom. On those days when you're feeling stuck or unsure, begin to wonder if you are still surrendering and listening, letting go of control, or if you are trying to decide what lessons you need to learn. Just like in a yoga class, surrendering to the guidance of the teacher - in this case, life - can help you navigate through challenges and find a way forward. Trust in the process, be present in the moment, and be open to the lessons life has to offer.
