The Gift of Love

Love comes in many different forms and faces, so many that our fantasy reaches its limits imagining them all. Recognizing love, especially when it's right in front of us, is an art. It's a challenging art to master because art isn’t something that is mastered purely through logical thinking and we only see what we know. We expect and see in another only what we are capable of. That's why we recognize love mostly when it fits our expectations of it. We want to be loved the way we love. All other forms are scary. We meet them with suspicion and doubt, misinterpreting the signs, and don't speak its language, even when someone loves us with all their heart! But at its core, love is simple. Once it seeps into your heart, it becomes a part of you. Even if the source of that love doesn't meet your hopes, fulfill your requests, or disappear from your life, the love it awakened within us remains. We shouldn't be greedy with it. Greed blinds us, preventing us from appreciating the purity of this precious gift. Love's true beauty lies in its presence, not in our expectations of it.
