One With Life
Eckhard Tolle:
"How to be at peace now? By making peace with the present moment. The present moment is the field on which the game of life happens. It cannot happen anywhere else. There are three words that convey the secrets of the art of living, the secret of all happiness and success: ONE WITH LIFE. Being one with life is being one with now. You then realize that you don't live life, but life lives you. Life is the dancer, and you are the dance"
I found this quote in one of my old journals last week and was moved by it. So, I began copying it into my current journal and as I was writing it down sentence by sentence I began to sit with each phrase for a little bit…
"How to be at peace now? By making peace with the present moment"
This suggests that inner peace can only be achieved by accepting and embracing the present moment. This means letting go of any regrets or worries about the past, and not getting too caught up in hopes or fears about the future. Fully accepting the present moment as it is to find a deep sense of inner calm and contentment.
"The present moment is the field on which the game of life happens. It cannot happen anywhere else"
This statement emphasizes the importance of being fully present in the here and now. It suggests that everything that matters in life - our relationships, our accomplishments, our joys, and sorrows - all happen in the present moment. Therefore, if we are not fully engaged and present in the moment, we risking to miss out on the richness of life.
"There are three words that convey the secrets of the art of living, the secret of all happiness and success: ONE WITH LIFE"
Easier said than done. The sentence suggests that there is a simple but powerful formula for living a fulfilling and joyful life. Almost like a mantra. By being "one with life," we can find a sense of connection and unity with the world around us, which can reveal to us the happiness, success, and inner peace we are searching for. This phrase encourages individuals to view themselves as a part of something bigger, rather than seeing themselves as separate and disconnected.
"Being one with life is being one with now"
This short phrase reminds me of another quote from Eckhardt Tolle: "Your life will never be something else than this moment.” It refers to the idea that true happiness and inner peace can be found by fully embracing and living in the present moment.
Often we get caught up in the past with feelings of resentment or regret. These feelings suggest too much past and not enough present. On the flip side, we are also tempted to worry about the future, which can manifest itself in feelings of anxiety. To feel anxious could mean too much future and not enough present. True joy and fulfillment can only be lived and experienced in the present.
"You then realize that you don't live life, but life lives you," takes this idea of just being present a step further. It implies that when we are truly present in the moment, we are no longer separate from life but are instead fully immersed in it. Life is no longer something we are doing or experiencing, but something that is happening through us.
Finally, the phrase "Life is the dancer, and you are the dance"
It paints a vivid metaphor of life as a dance, where we are not the ones controlling the movements but are instead being moved by the rhythm of life. It suggests that we can find joy and meaning in simply allowing ourselves to be a part of this dance, embracing the twists and turns that life brings our way. To me, it means to let go of control to embrace the tie surrender has with creation!
Taken together, these phrases encourage us to let go of the illusion of control and embrace the flow of life. By being fully present in each moment, we can connect with the deeper rhythms of existence and experience a profound magic that can not yet be put into words.
