Deep Questions
Why is it important to ask deep questions?
2022. New year, new page. You might have set some new year’s resolutions for yourself. From now on we want to do things differently than we did them last year. It sometimes seems like we avoid deep questions and push them through our life till they pile up at the end of the year. But why do we put so much pressure and meaning on one day? The day in itself has no meaning, it's just like any other day. Don’t get me wrong I think it is great to use this day to make a change for the better. But New Year's is just another day, and you got an entire graveyard of resolutions to prove it. To really change it requires a lot more than just getting a new calendar. To change we need to know why we want what we want and to find out why we have to ask the deeper questions again and again. Clarity happens by reputation and to only ask once a year might be not enough. We make such a big deal out of New Year's resolutions. We often want to change everything at once but are unable to make the changes stick. Not being able to make change stick is natural if we don't ask ourselves questions regularly. What would happen if we would ask deep questions monthly, weekly, or even daily? I assume that we would be more likely to live the life we want to live.
With new year’s resolutions, for example, we often want to change many things at once. Yet by trying to change many things at once we are making each individual change only a small priority. If we instead pick one change at a time and make it the biggest priority, we are more likely to stick to the change. By doing this consistently throughout the year we save a lot of energy and don’t have to be incredibly disciplined.
How satisfying does it feel to set new goals and make changes for the better? Imagine feeling satisfied on a consistent basis, instead of only every once in a while. Start asking deeper questions, more often! It ensures constant improvement and development. New Year’s Day will just become this special day a year where we remind ourselves about the progress we are making and celebrate the progress we have made through being constant. You can make a life change at any time, on any day. Don’t wait till next year.
